Ice Storm of 07
The Quad City area is covered in ice today! Just about everything is closed. Been lightly raining all day and the temperatures are going down and it will get worse. We have freezing rain and snow on the way. Haven't lost power yet!(fingers crossed) Here is a pic just outside my sewing room window.

Pumpkin Pickin
Yesterday the girls and I went to pick out our pumpkins for Halloween. It was a very warm day for this time of the year. This place, we went to, was awesome! They had huge fields full of pumpkins. It was a great place to take the family. You could pick red raspberries, but the bushes were done for the year. Will have to go a little earlier next year.

Cool Mushrooms
Early this summer, Hubby cut down a magnolia tree that had been dead for a couple of years in our backyard. One of the stumps from the tree laid in our yard all summer and now we have beautiful mushrooms growing from it. I loved that tree and was very sad when it died. Here is a picture of it when we first moved in 22 years ago.

Christmas Mode
Finally I've gotten around to making some Christmas items to sell on ebay. It's taken me awhile to get into the Christmas mode after making so many Halloween items and patterns. Here are 2 of my newest creations for Christmas. Going to work tomorrow on making patterns for these 2 items to list on ebay as well. Hope to get the patterns listed then.

Strange Squirrel
Finally after months of trying to get a picture of this squirrel, I got it! This is a black squirrel with a red tail. We have tons of black squirrels and brown ones. Had to take the picture through kitchen window so its not the best. I have tried to get a picture of him when I am outside, but can never get close enough. Was a pretty good day today. Sunny and in the 70's. Couldn't ask for a better day. Went to Sarah's graduation party. Last weekend it was Travis's graduation. That's it for now until we can get Becky's party planned soon.

Flowers planted!
Yesterday spent over 3 hours planting the rest of the flowers that I bought early this week. Whew...I am always glad when I get everything planted. Here is one gerbera daisy that I planted in a pot. It looks like a mutated flower head. Didn't even notice it was like that until I got it home and Tara noticed it. Later on in the day, I caught a pic of a chipmunk theif on my deck. He likes to get into my new bird feeder and steal the sunflower seeds.

Monday
Didn't do to much yesterday. Just some laundry. Saturday did a little more weeding in the gardens. I think I am ready to plant some flowers. Here is one of my perennials that is blooming right now. Its called a centaurea montana. I think they look like fairy flowers that I drew when I was in grade school.

Yard Work
Yesterday I spent most of the day working in my gardens, pulling weeds. Maybe this weekend, if it doesn't rain, will buy some flowers and get planting. I'm a bit disapointed about my tulips this year. We had a frost just a few days before Easter. So they didn't look to good this year. The picture is of my tulips from last year.

First Blog
Ok , here goes. Thought I would try this blog thing. Hope I am doing this right. I really should be spending my time working on my craft projects to list them on ebay and etsy.com. So this will be a short message for now. I may write more when I get some things done today. I got inspired to make a blog from a fellow crafter that lists her jewelry on etsy.com. I just signed up to be a member on etsy a week ago, and have made a few sales already. So I am excitied about that. The link to my etsy shop is www.rockriverstitches.etsy.com
