In The News

So today I was in the newspaper for my etsy shop!! It was a pretty good article! It was nice that the picture on the front page of the Home & Garden section was big, but it was kind of dark and you could hardly make out my items that I had made in front of me. :( Oh well....here is a link to the newspaper article

Listed this WELCOME sign that I made out of muslin and cotton batting on etsy late last night.

Something New

Finished up this door hanger yesterday and listed it on etsy. Been busy working on my patterns and getting more things listed on etsy. It's so exciting to see more and more primitive crafters joining etsy. I have joined a great group on etsy called Old Farmhouse Gathering. We are a group of artisans who create anything from primitive to shabby chic with a old fashioned flair. The group is growing everyday because so many crafters are moving to etsy.

My Etsy Shop in the News!!

I am so excited!! My Local newspaper is going to do a feature on Etsy shops in my area and they asked me to be part of it! Woo Hoo! They came today and took pictures and asked me a lot of questions about my work and my shop. This is very cool! The article is going to run in the Sunday paper on March 30. Also today listed my pig make do on Etsy. Isn't he the cutest??!! I think I might have to make one for myself!

Folk Art Bird

I finished up this guy today and listed him on etsy. Let's see how well it does. For some reason I can't stop making birds! LOL Maybe because I look at them all day on the bird feeder that I have on my window! The Goldfinches are starting to get their bright yellow feathers. They are the ones that have been at my feeder the most this winter.

3 little birdies

These are some bird ornies that I have been making for quite a few years now. Thought I would make up a batch and sell them on etsy. Sales have been picking up on etsy lately! Yay!! Finally feeling like I am getting back into the creative mode now, after a big break.

Primitive Crow Make Do

Just newly listed on etsy, is this sweet little crow make do. He sits on a old wooden textile bobbin with a little bit of rusty star garland wrapped around the base. I think he is so sweet with his little sparkly star hanging from his beak.

New Pattern

Just recently listed another one of my Americana patterns on etsy and patternmart.com. This was from a item that I sold on ebay last year and did quite well with. It's a great door hanger for your Americana decor.

Back to a Normal Life

My oldest daughter got married this past Saturday, Feb.23, 2008. It has been a whirlwind the past 3 months planning the whole thing. The day turned out to be a beautiful sunny day without any bad winter weather like we have had this year. Thank goodness! Now that the wedding is over, I can get back to crafting. Here is a pic of the 2 of them cutting the cake.

Sweets for your Sweetie

If you want to make something yummy for your sweetie for valentines day, I would suggest these Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies. I made these for christmas and they are the best!!!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg yolk
2 1/4 c. flour

Combine and blend all ingredients except flour. When well mixed add flour. Chill for a couple of hours. Roll 1/3 of the dough at a time 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes or until just edges are light brown. Makes 5 to 6 dozen.

Winter Wonderland

Woke up today to more snow. So far about 5 inches and still coming down. Here is a black squirrel trying to find some breakfast among all the snow. Then later in the day looked out and saw a dove resting in the snow.

Busy Busy

Ok...I know its been awhile since I have posted. I took a much needed break from creating before Christmas and am getting back a little bit at a time considering what has been going on. My oldest daughter is getting married Feb. 23, 2008, so don't have much time for anything but planning a wedding!! I have managed to make some heart ornies and now have a heart door hanger listed on ebay now. Seems like ebay is still slow as it was before Christmas. :( So here is my heart that is listed right now.

Ice Storm of 07

The Quad City area is covered in ice today! Just about everything is closed. Been lightly raining all day and the temperatures are going down and it will get worse. We have freezing rain and snow on the way. Haven't lost power yet!(fingers crossed) Here is a pic just outside my sewing room window.
