OFG Summer Challenge

I belong to a great group on Etsy called Old Farmhouse Gathering. Last night we all posted our items we made for our summer challenge, which were all things patriotic. I can't believe all the talent we have in this group! Stop by and take a look at what this great group has to offer. Hurry on over, as this treasury will expire early on Friday morning. Pictured is my Americana Crow Make Do I made for the challenge.

What am I to Do?

So the last couple of days, I have been noticing that, something has been chomping on some of my flowers all around my yard. I am pretty sure its deer. I don't think rabbits can jump up and eat impatiens in a hanging basket that I have on a Shepard's hook. First it was my tulips that they ate all the flower buds off before they could bloom. Now they are eating my petunias and impatiens and all the way down to the dirt in the pots. Err. I've been living in the same house for 24 years and never have seen any deer until 2 years ago. And never had them eating my flowers until this year!!

So, today I am getting ready to go outside and I open my back door and there is one standing in my next door neighbors front yard and another right across the street. So they both walk down our driveway into our backyard nibbling along the way and disappear. Looks like its going to be a long summer trying to keep the deer from eating my flowers that I spent so much time and money on.

Quad Cities June 2008 Flood

<-----This picture here, is an ariel view that was in the newspaper.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the Mid West being flooded and that's where I'm at! I live in the northwest part of Illinois called the Quad Cities. It's right on the Iowa/Illinois border. Today I drove over to Davenport, the Iowa side, and walked up Centennial Bridge and got some amazing pictures!! The river crest yesterday at 21.5 feet and very slowly going down today. It's the 5th highest in history for our area. This is the second flood this year. We had one a couple of months ago in April which got up to, I think 16 feet.

I made a slideshow of the pictures I took today if you want to take a look. Click on the link below. Enjoy the show!

I Think I am done

Yesterday and today finished up spreading the mulch in the gardens. Hadn't gotten around to it last week because of all the rain we have been having. So all my flowers are planted and just now need to pull a few weeds. Took a few pics of my yard today. We have lots of shade in the front, so I have tons of hostas everywhere, which I love. If you would like to see more of my yard, you can visit my photobucket at http://photobucket.com/flowergarden2008

28 years!

Today, I think I worked to hard in the yard. I am totally worn out and think I will feel the pain tomorrow for sure. Hubby and I made a trip to Lowe's today and bought 20 bags of mulch and got half of it in the gardens today. The rest I'll try to get done over the next couple of days. It sure was a beautiful day, bright and sunny and got up to 81ยบ. Cooked a couple of pork chops on the grill for supper. They were so good! Yesterday was our 28th Wedding Anniversary. Can hardly believe it. Time sure does fly, and even faster the older you get! Why is that, anyway??? Who knows....Well we went out to eat last night at Red Lobster. Very Good I might say!

Here is a trio of my little birdies that I made last week and are listed on etsy right now!
