Couldn't Believe My Eyes!

This morning I looked out at my bird feeders and there was a Indigo Bunting!! I've never seen one before and have always wanted to see one of these birds, and today was the day! I ran upstairs to get my camera and put my telephoto lens on and got a few pics. This one was the only good one, it's a little fuzzy. I was afraid to go get my tripod, that he would be gone.

Also got some pics of the cute little White Throated Sparrows that appear around here in the spring.

Caught a pic of him while he was singing!

New Primitive Folk Art Bird Pin Cushions

I know its been awhile since I've posted. Just finished up a custom order of 20 folk art birds! Now that I got them done, I can get to work on other projects. Here's 2 new Folk Art Bird Pin Cushions that I have listed on etsy right now. These little guys sure have been popular.

I am so ready to get out and plant some flowers! We have had so much rain lately and can't get a thing done. I've been able to pull some weeds though. We are going to try to have a vegetable garden this year. Will get some pictures up as that progresses.

Happy Earth Day!

We had a beautiful sunny 65ยบ day today! Everything has started to bloom around here. Just love it this time of the year. The pictures are of my bleeding heart and one of only 3 tulips I have this year :( I think they are slowing dieing and need to plant more this fall. Putting that on my must do list for this fall.

Worked in the yard raking leaves again. Our city just passed a law that says no more burning of your leaves. So we have to get these big paper bags to put our leaves in and the city will pick them up. The bags are free if you go down to city hall and get them.

So I hope you all had a great Earth Day too and don't forget, Think Green! We need to save our planet.

All About Birds

If you are into birds like I am you will love this website with tons of info on each bird. You can click on the sound button to hear them singing. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide

It's funny when I play certain bird sounds, that are in my area, my cats come running looking for them. Especially the Chickadee. Here's a pic of one that I took a couple of months ago. Cute little birds.

I'll never forget one year I found a baby chickadee was stuck inside of one of my bird feeders. The feeder was almost empty and the only way he got in there was through the feeder hole. I don't think he was in there very long. I just opened the top of the feeder and he flew out. Thank goodness I was home that day.

It's Time for the Hummingbirds!

I've been closely watching the hummingbird migration map and it looks like they are starting to pop up in our area. So today I hung up my hummer feeder. There's no hummer in my picture over there, but hope to see one soon. I've had several feeders and this one is one of the best. What's so good about it is you can take it apart to clean the inside of it unlike other feeder where you have problems with getting rid of the mold. You can even put it in the dish washer! Here's the website to purchase one of these feeders. http://www.drjbs.com/

And here is a link to the hummingbird migration map. Check it out! http://www.hummingbirds.net/map.html

Did a little bit of exploring today around my yard to see if anything was blooming yet and found this one little daffodil and my bleeding hearts are just getting ready to bloom. They are one of my favorite spring time bloomers.

Setting Things Straight

I guess I need to make things more clear about the Jack Rabbits I have been making. These rabbits are not my pattern. It's a pattern by a wonderful and talented artist name Kim Kohler of Veena's Mercantile. Please stop by her site and purchase the rabbit pattern from her along with patterns for all the wonderful dolls that she makes. Here's her website for her creations. http://www.veenasmercantile.net/

Ok now that I have that out of the way. I know I haven't posted in awhile. Been so busy with filling orders for my folk art bird make do's and my newest, folk art bird pin cushions. Haven't had time to make any new patterns.

Had my little granddaugher over yesterday. We bought her a swing to swing on the same swing set that her mommy used to play on. It was a beautiful spring day and she just loved it. You should have heard her giggling.
