Happy New Year!
Where has the year gone. Tonight hubby and I will spend a nice quiet evening together like we always do for New Years Eve. Then tomorrow is the day I take all my Christmas decorations down.
I sure am missing my little grand daughter. She is in North Carolina with her mommy and daddy visiting her other grandparents. They will be home on Saturday. Can't wait. Here are a couple of pics of my sweet little grand daughter on Christmas morning. My youngest daughter got my hubby a new cooler for a gift and we set Cora in it for a pic.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy new year!

Time for a Little Rest
We had such a great Christmas! Christmas Eve went to my in laws and had a wonderful time. Then Christmas evening had my family over. We had a gift exchange which was a blast. Everyone buys a gift that could be for a guy or a girl. Then everyone gets a number. No. 1 goes first and picks a present from the pile. Then no. 2 goes next and they can either steal no. 1's present or pick from the pile. And so on with the rest of the numbers. This is the first time we had done this because the family is growing and we are all a little short on spending money. It was a blast! We will be doing it again next year. Then later we had a bowling tournament with our Wii game that we got about a month ago. That was so freaking fun! We had a lot of people playing Wii for the first time.
I got a new camera for Christmas from my hubby!!! A Canon EOS Rebel XS. It takes the most amazing pictures!!! I am so excited. The picture of the cardinal, I took right outside my sewing room window.
So now I can get back to doing a little sewing and taking some awesome pics!

My Holiday Decor
Then when I was taking pics of my big tree Bebe hopped up on one of the big Christmas presents and it was like the perfect picture I got of her! She is the litter mate of my black and white kitty Socks that I just had put to sleep in October.
Then there is the picture of my German Twig tree with my snowman angel. I have them on top of one of our stereo speakers.
Here's a link on how to make Moravian paper stars like I have in one of my photos. http://highhopes.com/3dstar.html I made about 2 dozen of them about 10 years ago and still hang them on my tree. I remember it took quite a while to figure out how to make one. I got pretty frustrated, but I wanted to learn how to make one really bad and finally got it. Then I couldn't stop making them. I even made little tiny ones for one of my small trees.

Happy Holidays!
We haven't been having the greatest weather this week and it makes it kind of hard to get my Christmas shopping done. Sunday we had a ice storm and it was terrible trying to drive in that. Then yesterday we got 4 inches of snow on top of that ice. And its been so cold that the salt they put on the roads doesn't even work. And then tomorrow, another ice, sleet, snow mix is coming and they say its gonna be bad. I did see some beauty in this winter weather. This is a picture I took of my back door with my wreath. I decorated an old wreath with a bunch of different dead dried flowers that were left in my garden. I think it turned out pretty and especially with the light dusting of snow.

Cinnamon Ornaments
These ornaments sure make it smell like Christmas in my house. I first made these years ago when my daughters were in grade school. We got a bunch of cookie cutters at a garage sale and went to town making them. In the picture are a few that they made then. And the three of us made more a couple of years ago. It's amazing how well they keep their scent. Every year when I put them on my tree the whole room smells like cinnamon. I store them in zip lock bags. Here's the recipe on how to make them.
Cinnamon Dough Ornaments
1. Mix 1/2 c. ground cinnamon and 1/2 c. applesauce until it makes a dough.
2. Sprinkle cinnamon on work surface and roll out dough. You can place dough between wax paper and roll out.
3. Cut desired shapes with cookie cutters.
4. Poke hole in shape with toothpick for hanging the ornament; for a larger hole, use a drinking straw.
5. Place in dehydrator or 150 degree F oven until dry.
6. Use spring or ribbon to hang your ornaments.

A Few pics from my North Carolina trip
The second day we were there is snowed!! I guess it was very rare for that to happen this time of the year. We got a special treat. We drove up into the mountains that day where there were a few inches more then where we were staying. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was with the fall leaves and the snow. We stopped at one of the waterfalls and got some awesome pics as you can see. Below is a picture of my daughter and son in law.

I made these 3 christmas tree make do's today in no time. They are listed on ebay now. Hope you will stop by and take a look.

A Day in the Pumpkin Patch
Saturday, my two daughters, granddaughter and I drove to Country Corners to pick out our pumpkins. We got a little red wagon that they furnish for you to use and headed out into the pumpkin fields. It was a little muddy, as it had rained the day before. The picture is my daughter and granddaughter Cora. She is 3 months old now and is cute as a button. As you can see she is sticking her little tongue out. Cute! She's been doing that a lot now and making cute little noises. We didn't get that big pumpkin she is sitting on, just two regular size and a little baby pumpkin for me to cut out.
And I couldn't pass up taking some pics of flowers. This is a flower that would eventually turn into a pumpkin. Don't think its going to make it. I just thought it was beautiful

Socks :(
Today was a sad day in my family. We had to put our kitty Socks to sleep. My hubby had to take him to the vet. I just couldn't do it. He hadn't felt well for a couple of years and was losing control of his bodily functions. He was 15 years old and I think he had a pretty good life. So I have 3 cats now. This is one of my favorite pictures of him that I took about 5 years ago. I miss him :(

Another Primitive Halloween Ghost
Finished up this ghostie guy yesterday and got him listed on ebay last night. Sure don't feel like fall today. Got up into the 80's. The nights sure have been cold down in the 50's, then the temp shoots right up there. I noticed just a hint of the trees around here showing their fall colors. Won't be long now. Cannot believe how the summer flew by. Kind of sad. I do not look forward to the cold winter.

Wooly Bear Caterpillar
It's that time of the year again for these little guys to be found crawling across your driveway. When my daughters were little, they would catch them and put them in their baby strollers and give me a ride. :) Here's some info on how to catch one and raise it into a Tiger Moth.
1.Find a brown and black banded woolly bear caterpillar in October (check the lawn, garden, or even the road.
2.Put it in a clear plastic jar with a lid (be sure to punch holes in the lid)
3.Add a twig in the jar and include some fresh grass for your bear to eat. Note: Put fresh grass in everyday. Soon your bear will tire of perching on the twig and will go to sleep on the bottom.
4.Remove any remaining grass but leave the twig in the jar all winter long.
5.Find a place outside that is protected from bad weather (a covered porch is nice) and you will be able to watch it hibernate.
6.In the spring, when weeds start to turn green it is time to feed your bear. Feed it fresh grass every day. Soon it will spin its magic cocoon of silk.
7.In about a week it will become the Isabella Tiger moth. On a nice day, take the jar outside and set your "tiger" free.
