Bunnies Have Left the Nest

This morning I checked the window well and all the babies were gone. Last night while my daughter and I went and got mexican take out, my son in law was out walking around with my granddaughter and he saw that one of the baby bunnies was out of the window well and was in my garden under the hosta's. I guess that was when they started jumping out. I checked on them last night at 11:00 when I went to bed and there were 3 or 4 left. This evening when I was cooking some brats on the grill I saw one of the babies in our backyard eating some grass among my hosta's. So they are probably all over my yard living on their own now, which makes me happy. I tried to get a pic of the little guy in my hosta's but as soon as he saw me coming he took off into my daylilies.

Enjoy the pics from my garden! :)

  1. You reminded me of something else when I looked up info on rabbits. If the mother things her nest has been compromised, she will find a new spot, so maybe they are hiding in a new area.

One time my son found bunnies that had been mauled by a dog. One lived and I let him go when he was able and for years he would come back and lay near the house. I could tell it was him because he had a bad leg and dragged it behind him.

  2. Thank you for coming by and following my blog, I am glad you did because that allowed me to find you and I so enjoyed your bunny story (accept for the cat part),it is sad when those things happen. I have had a lot of babies in my yard this year, birds & squirrels and I too have a neighbors cat that stalks my babies, I threw a bucket of water on him and he hasn't came back. Good to meet you, I'll be back~Jacque

  3. The bunnies were adorable. I'm disappointed that we will not see more pics as they grow. Oh...and I hope they don't eat your beautiful plants. Have a great weekend. ~Natalie

  4. What woolen said is true, they will leave if they feel they are threatened where they are. But it's nice to see them out enjoying your yard and garden, too. Lovely pics of your garden. It feels almost as bad to see the bunnies leave the nest (or any little critter we're watching) as when our own kids leave the nest. But it's also nice to know they able to be on their own, now. Enjoyed the story and pics.

  7. Tammy, your flowers are gorgeous! I so enjoyed hearing about the bunnies! We have a momma and about 3 baby bunnies living under our shed. I put out sunflower seeds and they seem to love 'em.
    Happy Sunday!
