Primitive Winter Snowmen and Trees

Happy Saturday Friends! How is your holiday decorating coming along? Started decorating last weekend. Took a couple of days. Now on to getting my Christmas shopping done.

I added a couple new Winter primitive goodies in my Etsy shop!

These trees were made from a old vintage lace tablecloth. Perfect size for a shelf or your fireplace mantel. I just love the wooden textile bobbins for the trunks!

I also added a tiny silver and white trim around the tree. Just a little bit of sparkle. Notice the decorative edge of the table cloth I placed at the base of the tree.

And I have a few of these snowmen that I make every year! I think the tree and the snowman make a nice couple!

Here is the link to see these and other goodies I have listed in my etsy shop >>> Rock River Stitches

Christmas Cinnamon Ornaments

Hello Friends! I'm here to share a easy Christmas ornament diy! This is a recipe that I've been making for many years. I still have ornaments my daughters made when they were little girls.

Cinnamon Ornaments

1/2" cup of Cinnamon

1/2" cup of Applesauce

Cookie press

white acrylic paint

toothpick for hole

Mix cinnamon and applesauce together. If it's too wet and sticky, add more cinnamon.

I did use quite a bit more cinnamon to keep the dough from sticking on rolling pin and on the work surface.

Dry your ornaments on a flat surface for several days. Or faster method is to dry in a food dehydrator. That is what I did. It took about 4 hours. A third method is in your oven set at lowest temperature. May take up to 6 hours or more.

When they are hard and dry, I took white acrylic paint and a soft piece of cloth and just a tiny bit of paint and rubbed lightly over the surface.

Add a ribbon or twine and you have the most wonderful smelling ornament that last for many years! They hold their scent for extremely well. The ones I have from when my daughters were little have to been about 25 years ago and still smell great!

The Deer cookie press is from House on the Hill line of cookie molds. I bought them from Fantes Kitchen Shop.

Who's Ready for Fall?!

Can you believe it is almost September? Where did the Summer go! We have finally cooled off here in the midwest with temps in the low 80's. We sure could use some rain. It's been probably close to 3 weeks since our last rainfall.

So I've been busy sewing these adorable giant Acorns! Made from recycled wool and cotton canvas.

These are perfect for shelf decor or on a tiered tray!

You can find these in my Etsy Shop here ---> Rock River Stitches

Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

Birds of a Feather Flock to Together

Ever think about that phrase? It's like what we all are doing right now. I love creating these sweet birds. Perfect size to use up fabric scraps I have an abundance of! Many are made from fabric I bought many years ago. Wish some of the fabric was still available.

Birds are looking for their new forever home. They can be found in my Rock River Etsy Shop

My Lily of the Valley is starting to show off!

And yesterday, in the mail I received some very special plants from a dear friend. I had mentioned I loved her pink Lily of the Valley in her Instagram post. And just like that, she said she would be happy to dig up some plants from her garden. I was beyond thrilled to receive them.

Aren't they gorgeous! I am so grateful to have some very special friends on Instagram.

Well, that's all the news for now. I hope you are all having wonderful Spring weather!

Peace and Love to all!

Staying Home and still doing good

Hubby and I are doing just fine with the quarantine. We've always been homebodies, well especially me! I keep busy with my sewing and photography and hubby with his woodworking small projects. He loves to make things for the grandkids. Not sure when we will see them again. I do hope soon.

Anyway here are a few new items in my Rock River Stitches etsy shop

The weather has been warming up and did manage to get outside the other day and do a little yard work! Can't wait to plant flowers. Will be a little different this year in purchasing flowers. The local nursery will have online purchasing and then curbside pickup. Which I am perfectly fine with!

And a reminder I have 15% off all my pillows in my Red Oak Images Etsy Shop

Stay safe my friends. Peace and Love to all!

We had terrible thunder storms pass through here last night and dumped 4" of rain! Needless to say....our basement is flooded. Expecting another storm later this afternoon with possible tornadoes. When it rains...it pours!
