Another Flock of Primitive Textile Birdies!

Just finished up another flock of my new birds! They are in my Etsy Shop waiting to fly to their new home!

You can see all of them by clicking on this link >>> Rock River Stitches

The weather is certainly feeling like Summer around here lately (finally). Flowers are doing wonderful especially after the 3 1/2" of rain yesterday. I lost count on the many thunderstorms that passed through. Every time I got ready to go to the grocery store another storm was coming! So I put that shopping trip off till today.

Gerbera Daisy just opening up!
The American Goldfinch birds love these flowers just a much as I do! I'm having a problem keeping them off the flowers. They like to pluck the petals off to get to the seeds from the center. They do the same thing to my Zinnia's. grrrrrr I would like to enjoy my daisies a little bit longer before the birds get to them.

*New* Primitive Scrappy Birds!

Look what just flew in! These birds are a new design for me! They have the most cutest rusty wire legs, I think. They all are for sale right now in my Etsy Shop

In other news, I saw the mama deer and baby that I saw a couple of weeks ago in my neighbors backyard. Little one sure has grown fast since I last saw it.

And look who landed on my deck railing the other day! It's a young male cardinal just getting his bright red feathers and black mask around his beak and eyes.

Making this short for today. Will be listing more of my new primitive birds in the future posts.

Primitive Squirrels!

I've finally gotten some time to sew after getting my flower garden in! I have a few new items newly listed in my etsy shop!

These sweet primitive squirrels can be seen here --->Rock River Stitches etsy shop
I just had to make one squirrel black like what we have around here. They are my favorites!

And another new item!!! I just love making these big crows!!

You can see this guy in my etsy shop too!

Almost forgot another new item I made last week!

If you are a follower of my blog, you know that I live in a residential area that has a over population of deer. A couple of weeks ago saw a Momma and baby walking through my backyard. The baby had to be no more then a couple of days old.

I had to hurry and get the shot as they were walking fast! Excuse the blur of one of my flower pots on the left of the photo.

Mom was walking pretty fast and this little one was having a hard time keeping up! It laid down one time in my neighbors front yard before crossing the street. I held my breathe as the little one crossed the street over to mom who was quite a ways ahead of it.

And the birds have been busy in my yard raising families!

Wishing everyone a Happy Weekend!!

Love for Gerbera Daisies!

I must confess, I'm obsessed with Gerbera Daisies!! They come in so many colors! I have four different colors this year. Here are couple photos I took this past weekend!

Got a ton of work done in the yard this weekend! Just can't believe how fast weeds grow!! Was feeling a little stiff on Sunday morning.

I've join a art website where you can purchase my photos in different sizes and styles!! It's called Fine Art America. <<<< Click on that link to go to my selling page. I also have a link over on my right hand sidebar of my blog that will take you there. Oh and have a couple more coin purses finished and listed in my etsy shop! These I made the smaller size and with a Script cotton print for the outside.

New Design!

Been so busy with this warm weather, planting flowers and sewing. I've added a couple of new coin purses to my etsy shop. They are just a tad smaller then what I was making before. Here are two that I just put in my etsy shop last night.

Click here, Rock River Stitches to go to my shop!

In other news I was lucky enough to have Baltimore Orioles come to my feeders! Hummingbird feeders to be exact! I did go out and buy a oriole feeder but haven't seen them on it yet. I don't know if they have passed me by now. I did have them for about a week. Here are a few photos that I captured.

The above photos are of the male oriole. Isn't he just gorgeous!!

And these below pics are of the female who arrived a few days after the male did. She is so pretty too, I think.

And I was lucky enough to capture more pics of the Rose-breasted grosbeak family!!

Male Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Female Rose-breasted Grosbeak in the rain eating corn. If you looks close you can see the raindrops on her head

Here you can see how big these birds are compared to others. The smaller bird is a white crowned sparrow. They are a little smaller then a normal size sparrow.

Mr. Rose-breasted Grosbeak posing for me!!

And finally got a couple's photo. Let me introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Rose-breasted Grosbeak!!

And yesterday I got the most cutest photo!!!
This little chipmunk was helping himself to grape jelly that I had set out for the orioles!!

Spring is more like Summer!

Wow....Looks like it's been awhile since my last post. Not a whole lot going on. Just been doing Spring clean up in the yard. Today I believe is the warmest day we have had so far this year!! I'm loving it! As I type my weather bug on my computer says 85º! Things are really growing within the last couple of days! Hosta's are really popping up. They seem to grow overnight.

Today I finished up a brand new design for my coin purse's! I have it listed in my etsy shop now!

This sweet little coin purse is upcycled with different types of wool.

Today I was lucky enough to see one of the migratory birds that comes through here in the Spring.

This is the male Rose - breasted Grosbeak. He is just gorgeous compared to the female that is all brown. I didn't see her around when I saw this guy. You usually do. This guy was just singing up a storm when I took the picture.

I put out my hummingbird feeders today. I'm a bit late this year as it has been so cold. I think the hummers will be making an appearance any day now!! Can't wait to take some photos of them with my new lens!

More Like Spring!

Hope I didn't jinx it by saying it's been more like Spring around here! Was a gorgeous 72º day today!!! Even went for a motorcycle ride with hubby for the first time this year.

Saw this beautiful creature in the raven by our house when coming home from our ride.

I believe she was nibbling on the daylilies down there.

Took a couple pictures of the Alcoa Eagle's nest from the Illinois side of the river looking over to the Iowa side where the nest is located in Davenport Iowa.

In the close up shot you can see the Eagle sitting on the side of the nest. Gives you an idea how really big the nest is!! You can also see the white webcam pointing down at the nest. Right now they are having technical problems with the webcam after we had a storm the other night. Here is a link to the Eagle webcam if it ever comes back on, if you want to view the eagles and eaglets. Aloca Webcam

In this shot you can barely see the nest. click on the pictures to get a closer view of the photos.

Earlier this week I ventured down to Sunset Marina and found American White Pelicans. You know it's Spring when the Pelicans come back!!

And this Robin seemed to pose for me. I was very close to him!!

So that's about all for now!

Happy April!

Hello my blogging friends! Yes...April is here...but sure don't feel like it. We've been running 10 to 20 degrees below normal this time of the year. Will be warming up a little the end of the week.

I have a few new goodies for you all to see! I've restocked my popular bunny and owl coin purses in my etsy shop! Go HERE to visit my Rock River Stitches primitive shop!

And....I have a new glass photo pendant necklace as well! Go HERE to see my Crow in Tree pendant. Or you can use my sidebar link over to the right to visit either of my shops!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!! I know I did! Great to be with family again. Had a small group, but that is OK with me. Less chaotic!

Today I noticed that the American Goldfinch's have just about gotten all there bright yellow feathers! Took this shot this afternoon.

I just find this totally amazing how they change color in the Spring and Fall.

And the little comical chipmunks are now out and about!!

This little guy was on the clean up crew after the squirrels had their breakfast of corn and peanuts. He stuffed his little pouches with the leftover corn.

I plan to have a couple more of my coin purses finished by the end of the week!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!
