Primitive Halloween Goodies!

I have a few new Primitive Halloween items in my Etsy Shop

We've been getting some wonderful cool fall days lately. And with that I start seeing the Buckeye Butterflies.

And the hummingbirds are gasing up at my feeders, getting ready to fly south. The Male hummingbirds left a couple of weeks ago. I have a few females and male juveniles still around.

This one is a juvenile male

Please don't forget to check out my phone case etsy shop! I'm always adding new cases each week.

Happy Labor Day!

We are finally getting our Summer heat. It seems Summer is way behind this year. Been mostly in the 90's all week. Had a record breaking temp the other day of 97º.

Finally things have slowed down a little with the phone case whirlwind! I've been so busy with orders and such that I haven't had time to work on Halloween. The Blue Ball Jar phone case has been a HUGE hit! I have also added photo pillow cases to my Red Oak Images etsy shop. I don't have as many pillow cases as the phone case, so if you see a image on a phone case you like that you would like in a pillow case, just let me know.

Pillow Cases come in 3 different sizes....16" X 16", 18" X 18" and 20" X 20"

I'm getting requests for a few old primitive items that I had made years. Need to get cracking on those things. I picked up a old wool blanket at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago and thinking that would make some pretty cool primitive pumpkins. So Have that idea in my head right now.

So that is what is been going on with me lately and trying to keep all my flowers alive with the awful heat we have been having. Every morning I'm outside watering! We need rain really bad. I think it's been about 3 weeks!!

Almost forgot to tell about my experience with growing potatoes!! Last fall I bought what is called a potato bag. You grow potatoes in a bag that is made of a porous fabric. I had never grown potatoes of any kind before. It was super easy!

In the Spring I bought Red Pontiac seed potatoes. You cut potatoes up in cubes and make sure you have at least one eye on each. Fill your bag with about 4 inches of soil and place you seed potatoes in the bottom. Cover with a couple inches of soil. As the potatoes grow add more soil to the bag. They say every 8 inches of growth add soil. I had a little trouble with the deer eating the plants in the end of the growing season. We harvested the potatoes last Sunday and had about 5 pounds of taters!! Not bad I think for a beginner in a bag! LOL

Purchased my bag at Gardener's Supply Company

Have a safe Labor Day Weekend my blogging friends!!!

New Primitive Squirrel Pattern!!

I did something yesterday that I haven't done for a very long time, about 8 months ago. I made a new pattern! By the request of my fans, I now have a pattern for my Autumn Squirrel!

You can find him in my Etsy Shop HERE And he is listed at Pattern Mart as well.

Besides working on this pattern I also made 2 business Facebook pages! Please stop by and like both my pages to keep up to date on what's going on.

The weather this morning was so cool, I decided to sit out on the deck. I hadn't taken any pictures of the hummers this year. So I thought I would set a time limit of a hour as I had much to do today.
This is what I saw!

Where has the Summer gone?

Can you believe in about a week it will be August! Where has the summer gone? I'm enjoying it puttering around in my gardens. And I can't complain to much about the weather. It's 70º right now and that is very unusual for us here in the Midwest.

I had a request for a Flamingo Coin Purse for my sister's friend. I do believe it turned out pretty cute! What do you think? Should I sell these in my etsy shop?

Today I will be starting on a few new Primitive Halloween Goodies!! I'll post here with my new creations!!

I Really Should Be......

Really should be working on Halloween and Christmas goodies for the up coming fall/winter season. So hard for me to do when it's 90º outside. I get so caught up with photographing everything outside, like flowers and wildlife that I normally don't get to do in the winter. And I love just playing in my gardens, pulling weeds transplanting plants, watering. You know all that stuff that goes along with caring for a garden. I hate being indoors in the summer, even if it's hot out!!

And I love, each Summer watching the baby deer grow up right before my eyes. I see Mommy and baby practically everyday now. She drops baby off at my next door neighbors backyard in the ferns and leaves for the morning. She usually comes back in the afternoon to pick her up. Baby is now old enough to venture out in the backyard on her own while mom is away. I captured an awesome shot of her today while mom was away.

I think I may print out this photo for myself and frame it!!!

I've been playing around with my camera a lot the last month, capturing very cool images and turning them into IPhone cases. I've just started listing them in my Red Oak Images Etsy Shop. Click HERE to check out my new designs!!

Here's a few of what I have to offer!

This one is a vintage camera that I own.

I have this one, the Blue Ball Jar case for my iphone and just love it!!!!

From a wooden bench my hubby uses for a foot stool

A Baltimore Oriole photo that I took this Spring

This is an old Elm Tree stump that is on our property. Very cool I think!

Like some rust? This was taken inside of a huge tractor rim that my neighbor has.

And my fawn that I get to see everyday!!!

These cases are available in IPhone 4, IPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy 4

Cool Summer!

I'm just loving the weather we've been getting lately. Hard to believe that it's July and only highs in the 70's! Perfect I say!! And mother nature is giving us rain when it just starts to dry out. That helps me with my daily watering of all my flower gardens! Gives me more time to sew and take photos!

Captured this shot of a rainbow on Saturday. It was a crazy weather day. It would pour down rain for a little bit and then the sun would come out. Did that all day. I think there had to be at least 4 or 5 rainbows that day.

Several months ago I had a couple of people interested in this pillow that I made with one of my photos. You can now purchase it by clicking Here  You can get the pillow in 16", 18" and 20" with or with out a pillow insert. Very reasonable prices!

Also I've been working on some really cool vintage iphone cases that you can get at the same website.

Vintage Ball Blue Glass Canning Jar Case is Here

Vintage Brownie Camera is Here

I also have a couple new bird scrappy birds in my etsy shop!

These sweet birds can be found in my etsy shop Here

That's all for this day before the 4th of July! Have a safe holiday my blogging friends!

Another Flock of Primitive Textile Birdies!

Just finished up another flock of my new birds! They are in my Etsy Shop waiting to fly to their new home!

You can see all of them by clicking on this link >>> Rock River Stitches

The weather is certainly feeling like Summer around here lately (finally). Flowers are doing wonderful especially after the 3 1/2" of rain yesterday. I lost count on the many thunderstorms that passed through. Every time I got ready to go to the grocery store another storm was coming! So I put that shopping trip off till today.

Gerbera Daisy just opening up!
The American Goldfinch birds love these flowers just a much as I do! I'm having a problem keeping them off the flowers. They like to pluck the petals off to get to the seeds from the center. They do the same thing to my Zinnia's. grrrrrr I would like to enjoy my daisies a little bit longer before the birds get to them.

*New* Primitive Scrappy Birds!

Look what just flew in! These birds are a new design for me! They have the most cutest rusty wire legs, I think. They all are for sale right now in my Etsy Shop

In other news, I saw the mama deer and baby that I saw a couple of weeks ago in my neighbors backyard. Little one sure has grown fast since I last saw it.

And look who landed on my deck railing the other day! It's a young male cardinal just getting his bright red feathers and black mask around his beak and eyes.

Making this short for today. Will be listing more of my new primitive birds in the future posts.

Primitive Squirrels!

I've finally gotten some time to sew after getting my flower garden in! I have a few new items newly listed in my etsy shop!

These sweet primitive squirrels can be seen here --->Rock River Stitches etsy shop
I just had to make one squirrel black like what we have around here. They are my favorites!

And another new item!!! I just love making these big crows!!

You can see this guy in my etsy shop too!

Almost forgot another new item I made last week!

If you are a follower of my blog, you know that I live in a residential area that has a over population of deer. A couple of weeks ago saw a Momma and baby walking through my backyard. The baby had to be no more then a couple of days old.

I had to hurry and get the shot as they were walking fast! Excuse the blur of one of my flower pots on the left of the photo.

Mom was walking pretty fast and this little one was having a hard time keeping up! It laid down one time in my neighbors front yard before crossing the street. I held my breathe as the little one crossed the street over to mom who was quite a ways ahead of it.

And the birds have been busy in my yard raising families!

Chickadee with lunch for it's young!

Cleaning up after the kids!

House Wren busy building a nest!

Wishing everyone a Happy Weekend!!
